Summer Work Experience
The Recovery Act signed into law by President Obama in February provides additional dollars toward jobs for youth in our area. This funding provides an opportunity for youth to connect and experience education and training necessary to enter and advance in the workforce.
To be eligible for these federal funds, you must:
- Be between the ages of 14 and 24
- Be from a low-income home, or have a documented disability
- Have a barrier to employment including lacking basic literacy skills; school dropout; homeless; runaway or foster child; pregnant or teen parent; offender; or an individual who requires additional assistance to complete an educational program, or to secure and hold employment
Summer youth employment opportunities are heavily emphasized with these Recovery Act Funds, however, some year-round youth activities are also available.
